Bronze, Silver and Gold mypetstop Good Citizens Scheme

When your Foundation course has been completed, these mypetstop courses become available to you. Working at a higher level your dog can be trained in a variety of advanced level skills.

Bronze Good Citizen Club – Weekly club for an hour – £11 a session

You can attend how many weekly clubs you want – when you are ready to be tested we will call in an assessor

The mypetstop Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award is the first level above the foundation level.  The purpose of the bronze level is to enable your dog to walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead.  Your dog will be shown how to stay in one position on command, allow its owner to clean, groom and inspect it.  The Bronze award also aims to provide the handlers with a basic knowledge of training.

At the end of the course you and your dog will be tested on the following areas:

  • Cleanliness and proper identification. As well as checking the collar and lead.
  • Walking on a lead.
  • Control at door/gate.
  • Controlled walking amongst people and dogs.
  • Stay on lead for one minute.
  • Grooming.
  • Examination of the dog.
  • Return to handler.
  • Responsibility and Care.

Silver Good Citizen – weekly Club for an hour – £11 a session

The mypetstop Good Citizen Dog Scheme Silver Award looks to build on the skills you and your dog learned whilst studying for the Bronze award by increasing the difficulty level.

This level of training also introduces new skills for your dog to master.  By the end of the course your dog will also be able to walk sensibly on a road and be controlled whilst entering, exiting and inside of a vehicle.  The Silver award also aims to provide the handlers with a good knowledge of training.

At the end of the course you and your dog will be tested on the following areas:

  • Play with the dog.
  • Road walk.
  • Re-join handler.
  • Stay in one place for two minutes.
  • Vehicle control.
  • Come away from distractions.
  • Controlled greeting.
  • Food Manners.
  • Examination of the dog.
  • Responsibility and Care.

Gold Good Citizen – weekly club for an hour – £11 a session

(Dogs must be a minimum of 12 weeks old to be eligible to take part in the Gold Award test)

The mypetstop Good Citizen Dog Scheme Gold Award is the highest level of award within the scheme.  The gold award builds on the skills learned whilst studying for the Bronze and Silver awards

This level of training again introduces new skills for your dog to master.  By the end of the course your dog will also be able to complete exercises such as stop the dog, relaxed isolation and send the dog to bed.  The Gold award also aims to provide the handlers with a greater knowledge and confidence with training.

At the end of the course you and your dog will be tested on the following areas:

    • Return to the handler’s side.
    • Road walk.
    • Walk free beside the handler.
    • Stay down in one place.
    • Send the dog to bed.
    • Relaxed isolation.
    • Stop the dog.
    • Food Manners
    • Examination of the dog.
    • Responsibility and Care.
