Medical Swim

Medical Swim

A medical swim can be used to support rehabilitation after injury.  To support more senior dogs with their mobility, or to help improve your dogs general fitness or to support slimming. Benefit of a medical swim for your dog can include:

  • Weight Management
  • Improve heart and Lung Function
  • Improved Mobility in older dogs
  • Increasing or maintaining stamina for working dogs
  • Improved Flexibility
  • Low Impact Exercise

Please note if this is your pets first medical swim we will need to obtain a referral from your vet. When you register with the portal we will ask you to provide the details of your vet and we will contact them to obtain permission to swim your dog. You can book your swim through your mypetportal and we will follow up the referral with your vet in time for your booking. For any further information please contact us at

It will also support recovery from:

  • Hip and elbow dysplasia
  • Spinal injury and paralysis
  • Curciate Ligament problems
  • Arthritis
  • Muscle Wastage
  • Dislocations
  • Rehabilitation after surgery
  • Conditioning before surgery
  • Osteochondritis Dissecans
  • Chronic Degenerative Rediculo Myelopathy

Without it, some dogs are stuck in an unfortunate situation where walks need to be restricted to allow joints and muscles the chance to recover, but in doing so the muscle mass reduces due to not exercising enough, so the recovering joints are put under more strain again. The only solution is regular hydrotherapy sessions, which allow your dog to exercise without putting overt stress on their joints. The hydrotherapist will be in the pool with your dog during the Medical Swim session to help him or her swim. We will even bath and towel dry your dog after the session ensuring they leave us smelling fresh. Book online through your mypetportal

With many insurance companies contributing towards medical swims, you won’t have to splash out yourself!
