Give A Dog A Wag & Bone

Windsor is the setting for the action-packed family show of the summer! The Wag & Bone Show is back on Saturday 2nd August to delight the dog-loving public with all manner of events and activities to get involved in, with commentary from ex-Blue Peter presenter Peter Purves.

The Wag & Bone show will be hosting a heat of the nation’s most prestigious crossbreed dog competition, Scruffts. For dog owners who have always wanted to take part in a dog competition but couldn’t because their dog didn’t have the right pedigree, Scruffts is the ideal opportunity. The competition provides great fun for dog owners as well as giving the chance to experience the excitement of competing. There are four fun dog classes to enter including Most Handsome Crossbreed Dog, Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch, Child’s Best Friend and Golden Oldie (aged 8 years plus).

Judges take into account the importance of dog training and responsible dog ownership, and will judge the entrants on good character, health and temperament. Rosettes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in each class and each dog that receives a 1st place is eligible to compete in the grand final, which will take place at Discover Dogs on 9th November 2008 at Earls Court, London.

Entry to the Scruffts heat costs just £1 per class and all money raised goes to helping make a difference for dogs.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club spokesperson said, “The Wag & Bone Show is not just a great day out, but also gives the public a chance to support seven major animal charities and know that all profits will be making a difference for so many animals. The Scruffts heat is just one of the many exciting activities happening at the show and it looks set to be a really fun event for all.”

The Kennel Club Charitable Trust is one of seven major animal charities behind the show – the others being the RSPCA, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Blue Cross, Dogs Trust, PDSA and Wood Green Animal Shelters. All profits from the show are distributed between these charities to benefit our animal companions.
